About Soul Miners

BUILDING CHARACTER ON STAGE

Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.Bahá’u'lláh

Mining souls for gems of inestimable value … that’s our mission. Modeled after the award-winning New York City Children’s Theatre Company and licensed to produce original musicals from their catalog, we are offering a program that blends virtues education and interfaith spirituality with theatre arts instruction and performance. Students learn about qualities such as kindness, patience and truthfulness in a virtues class, then present these same qualities in a musical production.

Another goal has been to produce children’s theatre that calls on the imagination of both actors and audience by using minimal props and costumes.

Parents are a vital part of our program, taking turns as volunteers to help with classes and rehearsals and helping with production needs. A nutritious snack period is another important element of our weekly schedule.

At the end of each Saturday session, students, teachers and parents gather together for a quiet opportunity to reflect on what they appreciated about the day.

Enough talk — they say pictures are worth a thousand words, so if you don’t mind blurry pictures taken with a cell phone by a definitely unprofessional photographer, here are some first season rehearsal scenes.
